Current Series - Variations 8584
Variations 8584 investigates the connection between painting and improvised music. Each painting is made with exactly 8,584 individual brushstrokes, one per small "cell" on the canvas. The top line sets an initial motif, each stroke responds intuitively to the last, allowing patterns to emerge organically. Like live improvisation, there is no overpainting, every decision is final. The textured surface shifts with the light, turning each painting into a dynamic record of a spontaneous process.
